Barriers of critical thinking
Over-estimating our own reasoning abilities
Some humans usually over-estimate their selves
by thinking they are always right, however our brains do not behave like this.
Misunderstanding of what is
meant by criticism
People think that criticism is like a one-way
street that is only meant for negative criticism and not the other way, which
is criticizing in a positive way.
Lack of methods, strategies or practice
You know
the phrase “practice makes perfect”? Well how will we practice something if we
don’t even know how to go to the next step or if there is another way to
perfection?
Insufficient focus and attention to detail
Critical thinking is based on thoroughness and
focusing on every small detail because the general idea will make you think of
unrelated thoughts.
Reluctance to critique experts
Students in some countries are challenged by
their tutors to view their opinions in their own perspectives or to find
another way to reach their point.
